Born in France, Magali grew up in a small, rural community where everybody knew each other and took care of each other. This small town beginning fostered two key things in Magali that she is grateful for and driven by to this day: she learnt from a young age the importance of community and the responsibility that each member of a community has to help and support each other; and she learnt to be driven to explore and to find adventure.
Magali's passion for learning began when she started primary school and discovered the endless world that is opened through reading and using her imagination. This love of reading has never ceased and Magali has continued to enjoy both learning and reading.
Magali discovered her love of languages during her second English lesson, when her she began to master the pronunciations and intricacies of the English language. The perseverance and skills that she learned during that time are what inspired and motivated her to work with and learn several further languages.
Magali took her first teaching post as an English teacher in France in 1991. She implemented a creative and cross curricular approach to her teaching, before it became mainstream or fashionable to do so, as she understands the importance of inspiration as a motivator for learning.
In 1994, Magali moved to the UK to advance her research for her PhD. She worked as a French teacher during this time to support herself. Magali fell in love with the UK and decided to make it her home.Magali married Peter in October 1996, becoming a wife and a mother to his two children.
Magali started working at Trinity School in Brentwood, Essex in 1994 as a French, English Language and English Literature teacher. In 2001, Magali traded the Independent Sector for posts in the State System, both Primary and Secondary, gaining experience and advancing her career at every step.
In 2010 Magali became a grandmother for the first time. She adores her grandchildren and now has four in total, but her weekends have never quite been the same.
Magali has a diverse range of skills, which is reflected in her hobbies. She has a flair for languages and creative projects in general. Magali is part of crafting and hobby groups and regularly uses her crafting and knitting skills to create cherished, personalised and unique gifts for friends and family.
Magali took on the role of Deputy Head at Trinity School in 2012. In 2016, Magali took on the role of Head Teacher at Trinity School, and along with it, the major task of the strategic restructure of the entire school, including the phased closure of the Secondary School. Magali has risen to the occasion and relished the challenge of her first appointment as a Head Teacher. As with all challenges in her life, Magali has handled this one with poise and grace and is excitedly anticipating new challenges and how her career will develop in the future.
In 2017, Magali will be speaking at The Education Show at the NEC in Birmingham, which is a thrilling, new experience and avenue for her career.
Magali describes herself as a lifelong learner, delighting in new opportunities for professional and personal development. I believe it is this thirst that sets Magali apart and enables her to adapt so effortlessly to whatever role she finds herself in. Magali is an asset and valuable member of any organisation or team that she leads or joins.
